Elisa Levi Sabattini

Elisa Levi Sabattini (Ph.D. 2006) is a historian specializing in the intellectual history of early China, with special attention to Han dynasties. She studied Sinology, History, and Philosophy in Venice, Padova, Paris, and Beijing. Formerly an Associate Professor of Chinese Philology at L'Orientale University of Naples, she now teaches at the Division of Languages and holds a research position in the Department of East Asian Studies. Her current research focuses on the role of dreams in early China.

She is also a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Ruhr Universität Bochum and a member of the OTP (Officina di Traduzione Permanente) at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and translations of early Chinese texts. Additionally, she has co-edited several books, including the posthumous work of her father, Mario Sabattini (Z”L). Office: Webb 208
